If you like an outfit, buy it in every colour. That's what I feel like I've done with these pleated midi skirts! I wore one back in October and was happy with how it looked with my 26 week bump so I bought two more for over the festive period. I wore the what I think could be described as infamous, glitter skirt for my Christmas night out and bought another colour and slightly different style at the same time in prep for Christmas Day.
Our plans for Christmas Day were brunch with my husband's family then Christmas dinner and evening with my family. I was just about 38 weeks pregnant and keeping my fingers crossed that I'd get to eat all of my Christmas dinner. I managed just that and had a lovely relaxing day with family and food, what more could you ask for?
The burgundy pleated midi skirt was quite a good option because even though it wasn't maternity, and in fact was from the Petite range (hence why it's a bit shorter than the glitter one), it sat at the top of my bump. I wore it with a plain black cami tucked in.
There's something about wanting to be cosy on Christmas Day so I dug out an old black sparkle jumper from Tesco. I've had this jumper for years and with the little sequins it's quite a good one for looking a little dressier. Obviously you can't buy this anymore but there's a similar jumper from New Look or a knitted eyelash jumper from Top Shop if you're looking for options.
On my feet I wore black block heels but that was pretty much to get me from the car into the house. No one needs heels for a day spent in the living room and dining room. I packed my slippers to keep cosy and comfortable. That's definitely more appropriate for being 9 months pregnant. By the time Gavin and Stacey came on at 8.30pm I'd changed out of my skirt into my checked PJs from Boux Avenue. Perfect.
