Superdrug Hair Toner | Candy Pink Hair?

For a while now I've been toying with the idea of going pink with my hair. I don't mean anything permanent or too bright, just a subtle hint of colour as something different. I've had a Colour Freedom Rose Gold Hair Colour sitting in my hair product stash for months now but I've been a bit of a scaredy cat. Instead I decided to try the Superdrug Pick and Mix Toner in Candy Pink. I thought this non-permanent hair toner which lasts up to 8 washes would be a better place to start...

My hair is a light blonde, as it's been bleached, which makes it the perfect base for a pigmented colour conditioner like this toner. This pick and mixer colour says on the back that colour intensity depends on the colour and condition of your hair and that there's an increased risk of permanent staining on very light hair. I thought a warning like that would suggest my hair was going to take the colour well and I'd be rocking candy pink hair in no time.

The instructions on the back tell you to wash your hair as normal and squeeze out any water. Then with protective gloves (which don't actually come with the product) you have to cover your hair with the toner as evenly as possible. It then says to leave it for 5 minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly.

The toner smells quite nice and felt quite conditioning on my hair. It was quite easy to apply all over my hair and I set a timer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes I decided that I couldn't see much of a change and to wait longer. After 50 minutes (and applying more product half way through) I finally rinsed it all off. Time for the results...
The photo on the left was my hair just before starting the toning process and the photo on the right was after blow drying my hair. Candy pink hair? Not one little bit. Unfortunately the Superdrug Pick and Mix Candy Pink toner didn't change the colour of my hair at all. It left my hair feeling soft and conditioned but after using three quarters of the 100ml tube and leaving it for 45minutes longer than stated in the instructions I'm very disappointed by this toner. Thankfully I didn't pay the full £4.99 price as it was on offer but I won't be wasting my money on another Superdrug Hair Toner anytime soon.
