Try On Haul | New Look Maternity

Last week I ordered a bundle of clothes from Quiz Clothing to update my wardrobe slightly as we move into Autumn and Winter. But because Quiz don't have a maternity section I wasn't quite able to get everything to fit just how I'd like. The next place for me to look, that does have a maternity range, was New Look. It’s a dangerous place for me to shop, with free delivery because of my delivery pass and the convenience of my husband being able to return stuff in his lunch break I have to stop myself sometimes from ordering every second day!

Wearing a dress has been my go-to option most of the time for work and socialising. They tend to be most comfortable and flattering on my bump, especially as it seems to grow throughout the day. This Floral Wrap Dress was in the sale and I thought it would be perfect for work. Unfortunately I’m a bit of a shortie and it goes down past my knees. We’re far past bare leg weather now so a pair of tights is essential and this dress just doesn’t look right with tights and boots. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re taller because the print is lovely and the wrap style is quite flattering.
Unfortunately the first dress wasn’t a success but the second one certainly was. I’m still loving animal print and was gutted when the Quiz Dress didn’t fit well so I ordered the Khaki Spot Print Tunic in hope that it would fit and the darker colours would last me all through winter. It’s the perfect length on me, the sleeves aren’t too big and baggy and the tie sits just nicely above my bump. A definite dress, tights and boots combo winner.

So far for jeans I’ve only had under the bump style and I was starting to feel like over the bump was needed. A few people recommended the New Look ones but said to go down a size. I wanted a black pair for work so bought the Black Over The Bump Jeggings in a size down and they’re just about right. They’re a little baggier at the ankles than I would have liked looking a little more like straight jeans at times but they certainly don’t fall down as much as my under bump jeans and they’re comfortable.

With a few nights out on the agenda, especially on the run up to Christmas, I wanted a pair of ‘going out jeans’. I mentioned in my Quiz haul that I’d bought a few tops that I thought would look better with leather look jeans. It’s like New Look had read my mind and they had a pair of over the bump coated jeans in stock. I thought I would be best to get my regular size as this style is always a little more snug. I was wrong and have since returned this pair and gone for a size down. They’re comfortable, the material feels quite nice and soft and they look exactly how I’d hoped for a night out.

So far my feet have been fine in most of my shoes but I suppose it could be considered early days. I wanted a new pair of boots for the winter, as I feel like I do every year, and thought a wide fit pair would be best. The Wide Fit Black Ankle Boots that I’m wearing with a few of the outfits are comfortable, not too high and have a good chunky heel.
My last two purchases are both quite casual. I’m not really a leggings person so rather than buying maternity leggings (just yet anyway) I went for a denim pair of jeggings. The Blue Ripped Over The Bump Jeggings look like jeans but are much softer. Again, I went for a size down and they fit really well. The ripped knees aren’t too over the top and the dark blue colour are quite flattering. They’ve been my go-to jeans for about the house or going out and about.

I’ve not really got any maternity tops yet and have found most of my oversized style, or size up jumpers still fit but that’s obviously not going to be the case forever. I spotted the Pink Chenille Jumper in the sale and thought I’d better have something ready for later in my pregnancy. I was a little disappointed that the material wasn’t softer but I liked the colour and the fit so didn’t grudge spending £8 on it.
