Nursery Update & Gender Reveal

We started redecorating the nursery in our house near the middle of August and now all the painting, glossing and wallpapering has been completed. We used Moonlit Sky, a grey shade from Johnstone's Paint. It was only £20 from B and M and one 5L tin was the perfect amount for three coats on the walls. It was also recommended as a match to go with the wallpaper that we'd chosen - Rose Gold Starlight. I'm loving the little metallic hints from the stars, it's even better than the yellow and grey I originally had my eye on. We used Johnstone's Non Drip Gloss in Brilliant White to refresh the skirting boards, windowsill and door, what a difference a bit of gloss can do! The last change was the carpet. We got rid of the hideous red carpet and got a new grey carpet. It's much softer and cosier and finishes off the room perfectly. Next on the list is to start getting the furniture...

We had our 20 week scan the day after my husband's birthday. We both decided that we wanted to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. We wanted to share the news with our parents, siblings and best friends in a special way without going too over the top. My parents were going on holiday the night of our scan so we had to reveal all within just a few hours of our scan. I decided to make a cake with either blue or pink sponge on the inside only revealing all once we cut into it.

We used the Dr Oetker Extra Strong Gel Food Colouring which was brilliant for achieving a vibrant colour. The cake was iced with Betty Crocker Luxurious Salted Caramel icing and it tasted delicious. I just had time to decorate the top with white chocolate stars sprinkles before our family arrived and it was time to choose their plates. We had pink plates and blue plates from Ginger Ray for everyone to make their predictions and then it was time for the reveal...
