Hen Party Outfit | Abba Theme

Last week it was my sister-in-law's hen party and in true hen party style there was a theme for the afternoon and evening. In honour of her love of Abba music growing up there was an Abba/70's theme complete with decorations, music and outfits. It was a fantastic night with lots of games, a full dance floor and a few glasses of Nosecco for me.

I had no idea what sort of outfit to go for and spent a while browsing through Pinterest for inspiration. I also had my 20 week bump to accommodate and when I bought my outfit I had no idea how big that bump was going to be. Thankfully my outfit went to plan... well almost.

I ordered a 70's Disco Diva Costume from eBay which consisted of a dress, headband and  arm cuffs. I liked the bright blue colours and I thought I'd be able to go for some blue eye makeup to match. I sized up, which to be fair is the best thing to do when buying costumes anyway. Unfortunately there was no way the dress could be worn as a dress, it was so short! It wasn't that big a deal because I just put on a pair of leggings and made it look more like a top but it's worth noting if you want a dress, this isn't the costume for you.

I didn't want to have to buy many other accessories so the only other thing that made sense was a pair of 60s/70s boot covers. These were actually a really good idea because I could wear my own heeled boots that were comfortable for dancing in and cover them up to look 70's Disco ready. They were only £4 so much cheaper than buying a pair of shoes for the occasion.

Again I wasn't sure what to do with my hair, Pinterest was suggesting flicks, huge afro style hair and beehives. I turned to my trusty Babyliss Wave Envy and went for the crimped wavy look along with a bit of volume at the top. The headband held it all in place all night. For my makeup I replaced what would usually be browns, golds or blacks with blue - including my mascara and added a thick, winged eyeliner.
