Wedding Planning | Perfect Reception

As anyone that has ever got married can confirm, planning a wedding day can be pretty stressful. One of the parts of a wedding that people often find the hardest to plan is the reception. This is often the most expensive part of the day, so you may feel under pressure to get it right.

The secret to planning a perfect wedding reception is to do what makes you happy; don’t feel obligated to stick with convention, or to keep everyone else happy. Your wedding is your special day, so it is up to you and your partner to decide on a day that will give you happy memories to treasure forever.
Venue
The first thing to decide on is the venue for your wedding reception. This is because popular reception venues often get booked up really far in advance, so to avoid disappointment try to get this part sorted as soon as you can.

If you are struggling to find a venue that is right for you, don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. There are so many choices of venue available nowadays that it is not necessary to stick with the traditional reception in a hotel if that is not what you want. Restaurants, country houses, and even museums can provide the perfect venue for your wedding celebrations. We went for a marquee which allowed us to choose an original location and exactly where things would be within the venue.

Food
Trying to choose between wedding food catering ideas for your reception can be really hard. As well as choosing an option that works with the theme of your day, you will need to consider vegetarian and vegan options, and ensure that guests with allergies are safely catered for.

If a sit-down meal isn’t right for you, then plenty more informal options are available. Why not go for something such as a hog roast, buffet or barbeque? These will create a relaxed vibe for your wedding. The best part of an informal dining arrangement for your wedding is that there won’t be a dreaded table plan in sight (unless you want one, of course!).

Party Time!
Once the speeches are done and the cake has been cut, it’s time to party! This is the time to take in all the happy vibes from your guests and bask in the realisation that you did it; you organised a whole wedding, and it went really, really well!

When planning the evening of your wedding, take time to think about what best suits your tastes for the entertainment. Do you want to get your guests throwing some shapes on the dancefloor with a DJ and disco, or do you want to sit back and be entertained with some live music? Whatever you think would be the best way for you and your guests to have fun is the right option for you! For us it's all about the right mix between Ceilidh dancing, party classics and modern songs.

Ultimately, planning your wedding is a very personal thing, and the most important thing is not to get so bogged down in the details that you forget to enjoy this exciting process, as you prepare for your special day.
