New Kitchen | The Furniture

Back in April I shared the progress of our new open plan kitchen and dining room. We've been absolutely loving using it and getting everything organised, finding homes for all our food, dinnerware and appliances. Fast forward to May and we've finally started getting furniture in to the dining room side of the room to transform it into a place we can eat in, socialise in and relax in.

Within just a couple of days of having the dining table and sofa I had some of my girls round for Prosecco and since then the boys have gathered round for a night of Fifa and beers. It's exactly the sort of room we had hoped it would be when we knocked down the wall between the old, small kitchen and dark, drab man cave.

We wanted a dining table that was about 160cm long and had 6 dining chairs like our old dining table. We also wanted it to be an extending table meaning we can host at times like Christmas and have a bit more space. We looked at loads of different options and finally found the perfect table in the Roswell Extending Dining Table with 6 chocolate coloured fabric chairs from Harveys Furniture

We loved the slightly warmer oak and oak veneer wood of the Roswell dining table and the butchers block design which will hopefully be a little more family friendly than having sharp corners. We went for the chocolate coloured fabric, which I would say is taupe rather than chocolate brown, because the linen shade was far too light to be practical.

On top of the dining table we've kept the decoration quite simple. We've had the Linea wooden heart placemats and coasters since we moved into the house and I still love them. The pink artificial potted orchid is from TK Maxx and adds a lovely bit of colour to the middle of the table.
We used to have a large, corner sofa in the old room and knew we needed something smaller that would go along the wall facing towards the kitchen and the TV but also allowing people at the dining table to chat to anyone sitting on the sofa. Our best option would be a two seater sofa and we went with the DFS Angelic Two Seater Sofa in Taupe

The sofa is ever so slightly longer than we were hoping but there's enough space to be able to walk between the two. The taupe colour goes so well with the dining chairs and the light wood feet are great with the colours of our kitchen. The sofa is so comfortable and being able to pay off the sofa interest free makes the big purchase that little less painful!

On the sofa we've just got one cushion and it's a giant photo of our pet rabbit. I've shown the large suede photo cushion in my post all about Jessops and I still feel like we don't need anything more on the sofa to rival this stand out piece of home decor. Above the sofa we've got our wedding invites in a frame. I'd definitely recommend doing this after your wedding and even more so because I made them all.
We wanted our TV to go on the wall allowing us to have space on a sideboard for photo frames and decor. We used the Mounting Dream Tilt Bracket and it's such a slim but sturdy bracket. Obviously my husband has lost his man cave but I'm still letting him have his Xbox One in this room. It's handy for watching TV through apps like TV Player because we don't have an TV arial in the room and also watching Youtube or Netflix from the dining table or sofa. We've used the Floating Grip for Xbox One to be able to mount the Xbox on the wall and it looks so much more sleek and tidy not having cables all over the place.

The room is so close to be finished. We're just waiting on the plumber coming back to put the radiators on the walls, the blinds being put up on each of the windows and the sideboard arriving from Wayfair. From a dream to reality...
