What's In My Makeup Bag | Attending a Wedding

Late last night we arrived home from a lovely weekend away at a wedding near Edinburgh. When I was packing my stuff last Thursday, ready for our road trip, I realised that most of the things inside my makeup bag are my absolute favourite products. These are the products that I can rely on to give me a long lasting makeup look suitable for a day and night celebrating. They're the tried and tested products after our first wedding of 2019

When we're travelling away for a wedding we don't want to have too much luggage with us so we share one suitcase and then pack our dress and kilt in a separate outfit bag. All of my makeup is packed inside my gorgeous Ted Baker Makeup Bag that I got for Christmas and my toiletries are in a separate Ted Baker Washbag. When you're away for two nights you don't want to over pack but still need all the essentials.
I packed my makeup brushes first so that they have plenty of space at the bottom of the makeup bag, at the widest part, but also because I worry if I don't pack them first I might actually forget to take them at all! These are my absolute favourite brushes and are a mixture of brands.

Starting off with my tweezers which I've packed for my false eyelashes. Then from left to right is the Spectrum A05 angled brush from the Mean Girls Collection for bronzer, the Real Techniques 200 Expert Face Brush for foundation, the Luxie 522 Taper Highlighter Brush for blusher and highlighter. For my eyes I've got the Real Techniques domed shadow brush and Real Techniques detailer brush. My last two brushes are for concealer and eyebrows and came with products so are by L'Oreal and Maybelline.

The next bundle of products are all for the eyes. I packed the trusty Benefit They're Real mascara and Shu Uemura eyelash curlers. I used this for the day after the wedding but also to blend my fair eyelashes in with the falsies that I brought along. Fake eyelashes is a must for a special occasion look. I didn't want eyelashes that were too big, heavy or over the top and Ardell Wispies lashes fit the bill perfectly. I can rely on Duo lash glue to keep them in place all day.

I'm not very good at doing an eyeshadow look and quite often I would go for an eyeliner and leave it at that but this time I took a palette to give me a few soft colour options. The Sephora Midnight Wishes eye shadow palette has 16 shades that are a mixture of matte, shimmer and metallic. Because my outfit was navy with nude accessories this had a good selection of pinks, beiges and greys to help create a wedding ready eye look.
Onto face products and there's quite a few of them! When I'm doing my makeup for a wedding, a party or a day into night occasion then I use quite a varied combination of products. The foundation I've been using for day to day is L'Oreal Infaillible 24Hr Fresh Wear Foundation but I packed Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation for the day of the wedding. I also used L'Oreal True Match Mineral makeup on top as it leaves an airbrushed look and stays put well.

To tackle my underage circles and any blemishes I've got NYX Full Coverage Yellow Concealer and Vichy Derma Blend SOS Cover Stick. I bake this with Revolution Baking Powder in Lace and it doesn't move an inch. The little sponge is great for getting right in  under my eyes and packing on the powder. Lastly I've got Revolution Conceal and Define concealer for evening my skin tone in general.
My last products are all about adding a bit of colour. My lipstick is MAC Pretty Please. It's a light pink Lustre that works well with my pale skin tone. I don't wear blush on a daily basis but I think it's nice for a wedding makeup look. My favourite blush is Benefit's Rockateur. For my eyebrows I use Maybelline Tattoo Brow Pomade in light blond. It's an easy to use product that can make a bit of a statement with the brows.

I've got my OG highlighter in my makeup bag - MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. It's good for a healthy glow and isn't too glittery. The last product is Benefit's Hoola Bronzer. It's in my everyday makeup bag and so obviously features in my wedding guest look.
