I've got to admit when I think of red dresses I instantly think Valentine's Day or Christmas time. My wardrobe doesn't feature much red in general let alone in the going out category. I feel like it's good to try something new and because I quite like the Slinky Dress style and have worn this shape and fit of dress before it was time to go outside of my comfort zone with colour and tried out the Red Slinky Ruched Maxi Dress*.
The ruched material and split leg make this a flattering maxi dress which is perfect for a night out or Summer wardrobe. The cami straps are adjustable and the straight neckline is quite sophisticated. Definitely a good opportunity to have an up-do. The material is lightweight and quite slinky. I actually wore a slip underneath as I found it a little see through with the mesh material not exactly hiding dark underwear. The dress zips up at the back and as much as it's a stretchy material it's actually very much true to size.
My go to for shoes and accessories is normally nude or black and although nude shoes would look good I knew I had to go for all black accessories. A pair of heeled sandals is perfect for a dress like this and these ones from New Look are super comfortable. A good opportunity to shoe off a matching pedicure too.
It's definitely not warm enough to go coat-less just yet. A draped duster coat is the perfect compromise and this petite one is even better for my 5 foot 3 height. This one is a total bargain from boohoo and I love it for Spring and Summer. Finishing off my outfit, with another little bargain, a black faux leather clutch bag from Primark. You can't go wrong with a Primark bag for nights out.
