Wedding Guest Outfit | Black & Pink

When it comes to being a wedding guest my usual outfit choice is typically something pink or floral.  However, with our first wedding invite of 2019 coming in for March I decided to try something a little different. I had a black midi dress tucked away in my wardrobe from the January sale in Primark and I wanted to wear to see if I could style it up for a Spring wedding and disprove the old myth that you can't wear black to a wedding.

I thought this was a good option for a wedding as the midi length is sophisticated, while the slit leaves it being comfortable and easy to dance in. The wrap front is flattering and then the animal print is subtle but enough to break up the harshness of a little black dress. Obviously because it's from Primark you can't buy it online but there's a few similar ones in MissGuided, ASOS, Pretty Little Thing, New Look and  Boohoo.

To be able to wear a black dress to a wedding I knew I had to accessorise with something bright and what better than hot pink? I borrowed a hot pink fascinator from my best friend and bought a pair of court shoes from Dorothy Perkins to match. The fascinator was handmade locally but it's quite similar to one in Debenhams by Julien Macdonald and the shoes were some of the most comfortable heels I've ever worn to a wedding. I lasted in them all day and spent most of the night on the dance floor. Finding a hot pink clutch bag wasn't easy so my bargain sale purchase from Dorothy Perkins is actually a little more purple toned but doesn't look too bad. I think my outfit is finished off perfectly by coordinating with my husband; he added a hot pink tie to his Grey Spirit kilt and looks handsome in it too.

My hair was curled with the BaByliss Pro Large Wand and my fake tan definitely helped my skin tone with the dark outfit. I used the Xen Tan Dark Absolute Luxe Lotion. I wore Ardell Demi Wispies false eyelashes along with Double Wear foundation, Benefit Boi-ing Concealer,  Benefit Hoola Bronzer and Benefit Rockateur Blush. My makeup stayed in place all night thanks to Urban Decay All Nighter Spray.
