Outfit of the Day | Afternoon Tea

I love this time of year for getting together with friends and having a good old catch up. We just had the Girls Christmas Night Out on Saturday, I've got my work one this Saturday and then there's all the family celebrations to come too. Before everything got a little too hectic (and to celebrate my birthday) I went for afternoon tea with my best friends. What could be better than 4 hours of chatting, giggling and reminiscing with some delicious food and absolutely no hangovers the next day?

A December afternoon with the girls called for something cosy but stylish and there's no surprise that meant a bit of leopard print. I love this red animal print skirt from Primark, the red makes it a little more festive and because it's denim style material it holds its shape really well. You can get similar ones from New Look, I Saw It First and MissGuided. I wore my trusty black thin knit jumper from Primark, it's probably the most worn thing in my wardrobe right now! For £4 more you can get one from New Look and if you don't have one yet I'd recommend it - skirts, pinafores or jeans and you're sorted. If you're quick you can get 25% off at New Look with the code THANKS25 but today is that last day so there's no hanging around!

I had a bit of a toss up between a pair of chunky heeled ankle boots, or over the knee boots. Clearly I went with a pair of tights and the heeled boots in the end and I put it down to my suedette block heels being one of the most comfortable pairs of boots I've ever owned. I think a pair of over the knee boots would look better without the tights but now I need to find a pair with a bit of a heel.

Our afternoon tea was delicious, from the selection of sandwiches including smoked salmon and egg mayonnaise, to the scones, shortbread and meringues. It's always good to find an afternoon tea that has one of each thing for everyone so there's no arguing over your favourites. We even took home a little doggy bag which was appreciated later that night watching a Christmas movie.
