Honeymoon Outfits | Cancun, Mexico

The past three weeks have been the best, the busiest and the most exciting ever. From our wedding day (and setting up the hall and marquee beforehand), straight onto our honeymoon and then home to the chaos left behind. I'm back to work on Monday and after 7 weeks off from teaching it's always a bit of a shock to the system so apologies now if blog posts are a little few and far between. Right now I'm spending a lot of my spare time reminiscing on our big day and honeymoon by looking back through all the photos. Now seems like a good time to share a few from part of our holiday.

Our honeymoon was a multi-centre holiday split between San Francisco and Cancun. We wanted to have a few days of exploring and making memories, before going onto a week of relaxing, unwinding and sunshine - it's definitely needed after planning a wedding. San Francisco was a little chilly and I wore my jacket everyday so my outfits weren't much to write home about but in Mexico I put a little more effort in and had my photographer husband on hand.

Night time in Cancun was hot and humid, daylight was completely gone by 8pm and the voltage on my curlers wasn't compatible so all of these things made taking outfit pictures a little difficult, hence some of the blurry photos and dodgy hair. Our hotel was right on the beach with a lovely breeze (a maxi dress doesn't photograph well in the wind apparantly) but unfortunately with some of the stormy weather they've had recently there was lots of seaweed which didn't smell too nice.

My favourite dress that I wore was a blue and pink wrap midi dress from Quiz. I'm not one for wearing heels when we're at an all inclusive resort and though I packed nude heels I went for sandals from Primark. Much more comfortable in the 30+ degrees heat. The good thing about wearing a bodysuit when you're on holiday is it just feels like you're wearing a swimming costume. This black one from Boohoo actually feels like the same material too. The skirt is from River Island and felt a little glam even with flat sandals

Maxi dresses are a must for sunny holidays for me for two reasons - the beginning of the holiday when I'm still super pale and incase I look a little red or get sunburnt. I actually wore the yellow Pretty Little Thing dress on the last night of our honeymoon so that I felt all dressed up and the Maxi playsuit was one of my new purchases especially for the honeymoon and it was good to stay cool in the heat but cover up in air conditioning - best of both worlds.

My go-to option when it comes to doing my hair on a beach/pool/sun worshipping holiday is clearly plaits with French plaits and a fishtail braid appearing a few times. I only took one pair of sunglasses

I'm a total playsuit convert after this trip, I found them much more comfortable, convenient and stylish than separate shorts and a top. The white and green leaf print one is from Quiz, and a new favourite. The yellow one with longer sleeves is from In the Style and a lovely lightweight material. With both of these playsuits I wore Sketchers H2 Goga flip flops. They're really comfortable if you're doing a bit of walking and although we didn't leave the hotel we still hit 10,000 steps everyday so I think you can imagine how big the resort was.

My denim shorts are from New Look; they're a good fit and actually cover my bum so are a good length. My white T-shirt says 'Living the Dream' and is from Primark while the yellow cami top is from Tesco. My sparkly sliders are from New Look but didn't last too long when I realised how much walking I was going to be doing.
