Recently New Look, like a lot of high street shops, had 20% off for students, and though I'm not a student my fiancé is. There was no way I wasn't taking advantage of that extra little saving, every penny matters when you've got wedding invoice payments looming. A lot of my purchases were made with my honeymoon in mind but also for work and socialising in Summer. There's a definite theme of floral prints and I also somehow bought 3 pairs of shoes! The one thing that really bugged me was the delivery charge. I spent quite a hefty chunk of money and even then New Look wanted me to pay £3.99 for postage because I haven't paid £19.99 for their delivery pass. I resorted to Click and Collect and begged my fiancé to get it on his lunch break as my nearest store is 20 miles away. This little change in delivery options is putting me off my otherwise favourite high street shop...
One of my favourite brands at New Look is Mela London and I always check their range when I'm browsing online or in store. I couldn't resist the Navy Floral Jumpsuit. Jumpsuits are perfect for a day to night outfit both at home and abroad. The floral print isn't too bright or garish and the style is quite simple. I can't wait to wear this with a pair of flip flops to a BBQ on a sunny day. The top of this jumpsuit is a bit long though, and although I've made the straps as short as they can be it still shows my bra under my arms. I'm tempted to try a size down or look for a bralette for underneath.
Online the Bell Sleeve Floral Smock Dress looks gorgeous. I had visions of wearing it to work with a pair of tights or over the knee boots for a night out. I loved the bell sleeves and the black and floral print combo wasn't too Spring/Summer so I would be happy to wear it all year round. Unfortunately when I unpackaged my parcel I genuinely thought they'd sent me the wrong item. The dress is like a tent, it's got no shape what so ever and even though I bought it in a smaller size it drowned me. I'm so disappointed, this will definitely be going back.
In my last New Look haul I bought a gorgeous floral print t-shirt but it was too oversized for my liking and before I was able to buy it in a smaller size it was out of stock. During my hunt for something similar I stumbled across this gorgeous white floral t-shirt. Again it's got tiered sleeves and has a pretty floral print. I ordered a size down and it fits much nicer, but I could probably go down another size for a more flattering look. The one thing I'm really disappointed about this top is the tie at the back is broken. It's a total hassle to return it because of the fault but the top just doesn't look right not done up.
My absolute favourite item from this haul is this dip hem maxi playsuit. I definitely had Mexico in mind when I added it to my basket. On holiday at night time I quite like wearing a maxi dress or asymmetric style skirt to feel dressed up, not too hot and partly cover up my milk bottle legs. This ticks all the boxes and fits so nicely. The sleeves and cross over top are really flattering, the playsuit is a brilliant fit in both the body and legs and the dip hem fabric flows perfectly. I love it and feel really dressed up in it.
I recently bought some floral trousers from Primark without trying them on so when the sun shone and I went to wear them to work I quickly found out they were far too big. That pair were black and I wanted something similar but I quite liked the look of New Look's Navy Floral Trousers, and even better they were in the sale. I bought them in a size 8 and they look fab. They're perfect with a plain top and a pair of flip flops on sunny days at work. They're really good quality material and actually on me aren't very cropped hem at all.
Another work related purchase was the Denim Button Front Skirt. I'm not allowed blue denim at work but there's no rules on black denim. This skirt is a really good fit and a simple item for a stylish outfit. For work I'll mostly be wearing tights with it but it's a good length for getting my legs out and not feeling self-concious. I think one of my new pairs of shoes would go just right with it.
I'm not sure how I ended up buying three pairs of shoes but they're all completely different and two are like nothing else in my shoe cupboard. Sliders were big last year and have stuck around. I couldn't imagine wearing the fluffy ones but stick some glitter on and I'm there. I'll be wearing my new silver glitter sliders at every opportunity. Fingers crossed they don't rub on the top of my toes and they're a good option if you don't like sandals with the bit between your toes. The next pair of shoes are grey slingback sandals. They seem like a good mix between sandals and pumps. I reckon these will be a good work pair of shoes. They're wide fit but with the adjustable straps you can tighten them right up. The last pair are Rose Gold Sandals from the teen section. I'm tempted to keep these for wearing on my wedding day once my feet have had enough of my Rainbow Club shoes. Simple, sparkly and perfect for hours on the dance floor.
