Look After Your Eyes

There comes a time in most people’s lives when you don’t see something quite as well as you should. If you are blessed with perfect vision, then you are doing very well. Many of us struggle to see clearly all the time. For some, it’s the close-up stuff that is the problem, and others struggle with long distance. It is true that we are spending more and more time online staring at tiny screens and flickering graphics. Computers are not great for eyes; it’s a fact. We need to look after our eyes. Here are a few ways to remind yourself to be kinder to the only pair you’ll ever have!

Give your eyes a break from the screen
Did you ever get those horrible headaches from spending too much time at the computer? Most people would admit to that. It might well be a combination of bad posture, but it is also the fact that your eyes are getting tired. Every eye expert suggests that you take a break from the computer every hour for ten minutes. In that time you need to walk around, but you also need to rest your eyes.

Because your eyes need to adjust, it can be a good exercise to change their focus. You can do this by focusing on something close up and then switching your focus to something far away in the distance. Repeat this process a few times. Blinking is good as is opening your eyes really wide and then screwing them shut!

Day to day eye care
If your eyes feel sore or dry, you can use eye drops to ease any discomfort. Naturally most girls will enjoy wearing eye makeup. It can be a good idea to try and use natural products where possible and ensure that you are cleaning any residue away before you get to sleep. The old treatments of revitalising slices of cucumber are a refreshing way to treat tired eyes. If you wear contact lenses, make sure that you are taking them out and cleaning them properly. Contact lenses have come on a lot, and many people are using them to change their eye colour. It doesn't affect your vision at all. How about a pair of brown contact lenses to give you whole new look?

Always have your sunglasses close to hand. Bright sunlight and eyes are not a good combination. It can be the perfect excuse to indulge yourself and get a couple of pairs you really like.

Regular eye test
You should be getting your eyes tested at least every two years if not more. If you are struggling to see small print or read then stop putting it off! An eye test is not just about your vision; it will also tell you in advance if you are likely to suffer from any disease that could impair your vision. It will give you peace of mind as well as the opportunity to choose some great glasses. There is also the option of having laser eye surgery. This is not as drastic as it sounds and can restore your eyesight to 20/20 vision.
