Ready to host our first Christmas in our new house.
We were so excited to have both of our parents round for Christmas dinner and drinks. I love my Linea heart shaped placemats from House of Fraser but had to double up with some faux leather ones from Poundstretcher - they were a total bargain!
Christmas Morning Viewing
In the run up to Christmas we've been watching loads of Christmas films including Home Alone and Home Alone 2 on Christmas Eve as tradition. One of the few I hadn't got round to watching was The Grinch so we had it on Netflix whilst we opened our presents and started tucking into breakfast.
It wouldn't be Christmas without chocolates for breakfast. We got these amazing Belgian chocolates in the shape of donuts in a hamper from Mark's parents. They look so realistic and taste absolutely delicious.
Countdown is over
Working with children the countdown to Christmas seems to start in November. I wrote and directed a Christmas play, we practiced for the Christmas church service, we made Christmas crafts and took part in Christmas themed brain teasers. Add that to decorating the tree, going to panto and eating my advent calendar I was truly in the Christmas spirit by the time the 25th rolled round.
Twinkly Christmas Decorations
After a last minute shopping trip on Christmas Eve's Eve I bought a couple of Christmas Decoration bargains. One was this dress mannequin decoration from Tesco.
Thanks Santa Claus!
Christmas was a very grown up affair for us this year which involved a washing machine being added to my Christmas wishlist. We couldn't cope without one for the 2 months we've been in the house so this one was ordered back at the end of October. A very practical present.
Roll on April
Back in November we agreed on a budget of £30 for Christmas in order to be able to book a holiday to New York in Easter. After going in 2014 I'm desperate to go back and I can't wait to get it all booked.
Presents Under The Tree
As a fully fledged grown up there was lots of practical Christmas presents under the tree this year, along with lots of tasty gifts. That didn't stop my friends and family getting me exciting goodies like pyjamas, jewellery and candles. I also upwrapped a popcorn machine which matches my slushy machine! I'm sorted for a party now!
Not Quite a White Christmas
The weather on Christmas day was beautiful and this snap from our house shows what a gorgeous view we're lucky to have. The fresh, crisp morning made for a lovely walk after present opening.
Taking the stress away from one person we did a Come Dine With Me style Christmas dinner. Everyone did a different dish or part. We were on prawn cocktail duties which was probably the easiest. It all ran smoothly and everyone did such a good job. I loved my Mum's Terry's Chocolate Orange Cheesecake and scoffed my whole turkey meal.
Fun Times with Family
With a Christmas jumper theme, animal face mats and board games galore we had such a fun day with family. The day flew past and I'm sure I had a smile on my face all day (well maybe not when we had an awful start to Articulate!)
I hope you all had a great Christmas.
