Skin Rescuing Treatments

Looking after my skin feels like a never-ending job sometimes, and you probably feel the same. But even when you spend a lot of time cleansing, toning and moisturising, you can look in the mirror and realise your skin needs rescuing. Sometimes a run of bad luck gives your skin a pummeling. Maybe you have a breakout of spots, get caught in the sun or you're starting to notice the signs of ageing. If you want to improve your complexion, try some of these methods to get glowing, firm and smooth skin*.

Microdermabrasion
Lots of beauty treatments started off in salons and then became available to use in your home. Microdermabrasion is one of them. You can either have it done professionally or do it yourself. It involves using tiny crystals to remove the surface layer of skin, and you can use it to help remove age spots and light scars. It's a very quick treatment if you have it performed by a cosmetic dermatologist. You can also buy a machine to do it yourself at home. But before you do, make sure you read the reviews.

IPL (Intense Pulsated Light)
IPL treatments are a little like laser treatments. It uses a different wave of light to lasers to achieve the skin rejuvenation you're looking for. You can use it to address a number of problems, including scars, sun damage, freckles and open pores. The treatment aims to activate collagen and elastin production. This should give you firmer and more elastic skin. You need to have a few treatments, usually between four and six, with about a month in between each one. It can improve your complexion and the texture of your skin.

Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are another treatment that you can have at a salon or perform at home. Like the name suggests, this facial uses chemicals to remove the top layers of your skin. Doing this helps to improve any damage caused by the sun, wrinkles or uneven pigmentation. Although it might seem strange to do this at home, it is possible to. The chemical peels you can get for home use aren't too strong. You have to follow the directions to the letter though, otherwise it could all go wrong. Some of them need to be diluted before applying, and it would be a mistake to forget to do that.

Laser Treatments
Laser treatments are another alternative, which you can use for your skin as well as hair removal. You can use laser procedures to resurface your skin or to tighten it. Although lasers might sound painful, a lot of people only say it's a bit uncomfortable. Like IPL, you usually need to have several sessions to achieve the results you want. But it can get you excellent results, especially if you want an anti-ageing treatment.

If you think your skin needs rescuing, you have a variety of methods to choose from. You can improve your complexion and overall look and feel of your skin using the treatment you think is best for you.
