Why Every Beauty Fanatic Needs Tea Tree Oil in Her Life

If, like me, you’re a beauty fanatic; there’s one thing you need in your life. Tea tree oil! This essential oil is like the holy grail of essential oils, especially when it comes to beauty. If you’re not convinced, here’s why every beauty fanatic needs tea tree oil in her life:

Use on Spots and Other Imperfections
Tea tree oil has been known to get rid of spots and other unsightly skin imperfections. You can just dab it straight onto the area, or mix with a little water first. You need to be careful though, as it’s quite strong if it isn’t diluted. Test a tiny amount on your skin if you’re using for the first time to make sure you don’t get a reaction.

Soothe Razor Burn
Razor burn is something that happens to the best of us. There are a few things you can do to soothe it, but using tea tree oil on it is one of my favourite ways. Simply mix with a carrier oil, like olive oil and smooth on.

Mix With Moisturiser for Dry Skin
If you ever get dry, flaky skin, you’ll know how annoying it can be. Sometimes, moisturising regularly doesn’t even do the trick. I love to mix a small amount of tea tree oil in with my favourite moisturiser, as this just enhances the moisturising effects. I especially like using it on elbows, knees, and other areas that get very dry.

Add to Shampoo for Dandruff
Dandruff is effectively a flaky scalp, so tea tree oil can help with that too. I like to mix tea tree oil from Apothecary Extracts in with my shampoo and conditioner sometimes, to help clarify my skin and unblock the hair follicles. I don’t use much though, as the scalp is a very sensitive area. If you want to give it a deep conditioning treatment, mix with olive oil or another carrier oil and smooth onto your hair before washing off after an hour or so.

Grow Your Hair
Some people claim that tea tree oil even helps to grow their hair! Simply mix with a carrier oil as mentioned above; you only need a few drops. Then pay special attention to massaging it into your scalp. Your follicles will unblock and the massage will encourage blood flow to the area, which can help growth. Don’t expect to look like Rapunzel overnight; you need to be consistent.

Get Rid of Dry Lips
As tea tree oil is a light exfoliant and has great moisturising properties, you can mix it with a lip balm or carrier oil to use on extra dry lips.

Tone Your Skin
Toning the skin refreshes it and helps get rid of any impurities left over after cleansing. Using tea tree oil to tone the skin can instantly refresh and brighten the complexion. You can then apply your moisturiser as normal.

Are you convinced of the benefits of tea tree oil yet? I love the stuff. Let me know what you think in the comments.

  3. I have a Burt's Bees Tea Tree roll on! I use it on my spots and scars or cuts. Its stings but Tea Tree and just anything mint is a really good antiseptic and as well as being good for treatment on hair, it also has good immune system properties, that's why mint tea and peppermint's and chewing gums are good at helping with sickness..Sometimes we only look at the medication side of treatments and not enough of the homeopathic remedies! Nice blog post!!
