Luster Pro Light Teeth Whitening System Review

Luster Pro Light Teeth Whitening System

A brighter, whiter smile is something most people wan t. Every toothpaste company has introduced the whitening ranges which can help on a day to day basis but don't make dramatic differences. Loads of salons offer teeth whitening treatments but unfortunately they come with quite a hefty price tag. Luster Pro Light is the UK's first complete DIY teeth whitening system that uses the same paint on gel and activating blue light technology used by dentists. The good news is it's a fraction of the price and is a safe route with no tooth or gum sensitivity (Crest 3D white strips, we're looking at you!)

The Luster Pro Light Teeth Whitening System comes with 10ml of Whitening Solution, 10ml of Activating Gel, a Dual-Action Whitening Light, instructions and a shade guide.
I found the shade guide quite hard to use, the colours were so similar I didn't pin point exactly what 'shade' my teeth were at the beginning. I decided to go ahead with the belief that my teeth were number 11 on the scale, but focused more on self perception and other peoples' opinions.  After 10 treatments my teeth have improved by around 6 shades but more importantly I've had comments from my parents, boyfriend and colleagues!

The treatment was so quick and easy to do. I couldn't believe it when my first treatment was over. It makes being able to do 10 in a day (to achieve a weekend schedule) pretty achievable. All you have to do is brush on whitening solution then activator and hold the light close to your teeth for 2 minutes.  It kind of felt like using a nail varnish on my teeth, it's got the same style applicator.  There was no horrible taste, it didn't hurt at all and didn't leave my teeth feeling at all sensitive. With feeling no effects I was worried I'd see no effects.

I started off wanting to do 2 treatments a day aiming for a 7day schedule. By day 2 I was getting very excited and bumped it up to 4 treatments a day. I could see quite impressive difference from treatment to treatment.  I did have a bit of a problem with slevers, and trying to keep my teeth away from my lips and tongue for 30 seconds during the pretreatment and activator stages. But with no sensitivity or pain, I'm sure I can deal with looking like a fool for 30 seconds, I'm in the comfort of my own home after all.

It's totally portable, I could imagine having this in a suitcase for doing treatments before a special occasion. All you need is the 2 bottles of solution and the handheld light. It really is whitening to fit in your schedule.

I'm looking forward to maintaining my white teeth, just as long as I can fight my boyfriend off from stealing my Luster Kit!

Night Out: Little Black Bag

For a night out it's sometimes hard to find a bag that will fit all of your essentials without being too big and looking out of place. I often turn to clutch bags but for some nights out it's just not practical to be holding on to my bag all night. For those nights I always turn to my Little Black Bag.

With a chain strap that can be made into a short over the shoulder, a long over the shoulder or even cross body bag it's so versatile.
The inside of the bag fits a small purse, my keys, phone and lipstick with ease. I like the small zipped pouch for extra security and the turn clip closure leaves me feeling reassured that nothing's going to fall out of my bag.

The black quilted material looks good and goes with almost every outfit, it's little wonder this bag has seen many pubs and bars! For less than £6, it's been worth every penny!

What sort of bag do you prefer for a night out?

My New York Plan

With only 3 full days in New York we've been frantically planning to make sure we fit in everything we want to do. None of us have been to New York before so the plans are extremely touristy but that's not a bad thing, right?

We arrive around 5pm to New York so it's not really classed as Day 1 but we're hoping once we've found our hotel we can go to Times Square to see the chaos of a Sunday night and depending on how we are feeling I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a visit to Bubba Gump Shrimp.

Day 1
Our plan for Day 1 is to head straight for Central Park. After a lot of disagreement we've finally come to the agreement that a bike ride (not tour) will probably be our best bet for getting around as much of the park as quickly as possible. Let's not think about the fact I've not rode a bike in years!
Onto Grand Central Station/Terminal so I can have a Gossip Girl moment, before heading to 5th Avenue and definitely making a pit stop at Tiffany's!
Following lots of research we've opted for going to the Top of the Rock rather than the Empire State. I'm sure the day will end with another visit to Times Square, some good food, perhaps a night time trip up Top of the Rock and some late night shopping in Sephora, Forever 21, M & M world and Toys'r'Us.

Day 2
We'll be starting our day with a subway ride down town and catching the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. I've probably got the rest of the day in the wrong order but I know it involves seeing Ground Zero (and the church nearby?), a walk along Brooklyn Bridge and heading up towards SoHo, Little Italy and the Central Perk Pop Up! Again there's no definite night time plans but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a musical perhaps.

Day 3
We've kept day 3 unplanned, with 6 of us going there's sure to be things that some want to do that others don't. It'll be a chance for us to revisit anything we feel we didn't see enough of or maybe just some more shopping! I've not quite decided what else I NEED to see so I'm hoping you lot can help me out.

If you've got ideas for my Day 3 or any New York hints and tips please leave them in the comments!

House of Fraser Beauty Collection and Mini Reviews*

Nougat Sparkling Body Shimmer Peony
A brand that I've never heard of and a product that reminds me of being 10. I had a Virgin Vie product like this that I'd wear to add shimmer to my skin for a party. The gel formula is quite good for moisturising and adding shine to legs for a healthy glow.

Michael Kors Gift Clutch
This is quite a good sized clutch for a special occasion and is very glitz making it a perfect accessory for pairing with a LBD.

This new perfume by Pierre Balmain is a gorgeous girly scent. A sweet floral scent that seems like it would make a good night out perfume.

This product intrigued me the most. The packaging is very typical of Elizabeth Arden and inside the little capsules are a thick face oil which sink into the skin leaving it feeling smooth and hydrated.

This is a good sized sample with a cute little pump. It's a very lightweight cream and is oil free and dermatologist tested so seems like a good one for any skin type.

A refreshing, creamy eye cream but it seems to smell a bit strongly of perfume.

I can't quite figure out what exactly this product is for but it's an anti ageing skin care product that smells nice and is creamy and soft. My first Dior product, exciting!

If you like a cream cleanser you'll love this product. It's so soft on the skin and does a good job of removing the last traces of makeup.

A fresh floral fruity scent in a good handbag size bottle. I'd love to own a full size Terry de Gunzburg perfume but it's unfortunately not in my price range!

This travel sized brush is very soft and the quality is exactly as I'd expect from Estee Lauder. The handle is sturdy and the bristles are perfectly shaped.

Primark Autumn Winter Collection

A post that needs very little explanation. It's always exciting to see shop's new collections and the announcement  of Primark's Collections always tend to lead to a post with my favourite picks. Looks like this season I'll be buying and wearing lots of skirts and dresses. I have a feeling metallic, monochrome and tartan are going to be my most worn patterns and colours.

Fitness Friday: Skinny Sprinkles Review

I've been on a bit of a health mission, trying to eat healthy food and exercising regularly (even if it's only 10 minutes with Vicky's 7 Day Slim). With my holiday fast approaching I felt I needed a bit of a hand and was quite lucky to have a box of Skinny Sprinkles land on my door step.
Everyone knows there's no such thing as a quick fix, including Skinny Sprinkles. It's not advertised as a meal replacement, a miracle drink or an instant solution to weight

The box suggests having a Skinny Sprinkle drink about 15-30minutes before every meal. Unfortunately I don't have the time before every meal I found it hard to stick to this and was worried the Skinny Sprinkles weren't going to work for me. Instead I tried it my own way...

The part of the day that I find the biggest struggle is around half 3. I've just finished teaching and running around like a headless chicken all day, my energy is taking a bit of a dip, it's still a couple of hours until dinner time. I just want a can of diet coke and chocolate biscuit! My cravings kick in and I'm tempted to snack.  I found if I had a Skinny Sprinkles drink I was able to banish the cravings, boost my energy, power on to dinner time AND eat a smaller portion.

How it all works is explained quite clearly on the box but it's basically a drink mix which helps you feel full, reduces appetite and reduces tiredness. The stomach treats the gel like drink as food and 'delays gastric emptying'.

When I first tried the Skinny Sprinkles I wasn't too impressed by the 'strawberry smoothie drink'. From the description I was expecting something along the lines of a Nesquik tasting one or even a Strawberry Ribena drink after looking at the consistency. It's not a thick drink which I think is good, but I do find it a bit of a 'grin and bare it' sort of drink. It's not the worst drink out there!

I'm going to keep going with 1 Skinny Sprinkle a day and hopefully by the end of the box I'll have kicked my end of work cravings to the curb!

Have you tried Skinny Sprinkles or anything similar to improve your eating habits?

Barry M Cor Balmy! Full Collection Swatches

Barry M's ever growing collection of products is impressive and their recent introduction of the Cor Balmy tinted lip balms has been my favourite. With 5 different colours there's a colour to suit different skin tones, different seasons and different moods. They're quite comparable to the Maybelline Baby Lips, only slightly more expensive but slightly more wearable colours. The moisturising core is packed full of ingredients like Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter helping to moisturise and protect. They also have SPF15 as a nice added extra. They're not going to replace a moisturising lip balm but they're a good 2-in-1 product for adding colour and not drying out your lips in the process.
