Kerasilk Instant Silk Fluid Review

Goldwell Kerasilk Instant Silk Fluid (125ml)

Since I started using Moroccanoil on my hair over a year ago I've found myself feeling never fully dressed without some sort of finishing product. Sometimes oils are just too much for my hair and I wanted to try a creamier option. Goldwell's Kerasilk Instant Silk Fluid is marketed as a similar product to moroccanoils in that it provides moisture, smoothness and defrizzes so was one I wanted try out. The product is quite a thick cream and a little goes away. It smells amazing and reminds me so much of sun cream - brings back summer memories that's for sure. As for all it's claims? I love popping a bit on before I blow dry my hair to stop my hair being frizzy and it's great as smoothing down any fly aways once my hair is dry and straightened. It's actually so good at working I've been able to leave my hair to dry over night, pop a bit in the morning to tame my frizz and walk out the door with natural wavey hair.

A lovely alternative to hair oils both in results and price tag. Just over £10 from is fab for a bottle of instant silk fluid that will last months and months.

Have you tried anything from Goldwell before?

Face Mapping

Just before I started my new job my skin starting acting up. I was super stressed as I tried to take in as much information as I could, whilst organising my classroom and plan lessons for the 28 expectant 8 year olds that were about to enter a new class with a new teacher. Obviously I was stressed and assumed the blemishes - which seemed only to increase regardless of what cleansers and treatments I used - were as a result. But I decided to research a bit more into face mapping to find out exactly what these blemishes meant.

The face is divided up into 14 zones. Each zone corresponds to a different system in your body and breakouts in different areas can be caused and helped by different things.

Zone 1 & 3: The Digestive System
A diet with high amounts of fat can cause breakouts across your forehead. Increased intake of water and green tea can help clear these blemishes. A reduction in fatty and sugary food is also key to combatting this problem.
Zone 2: Liver
High levels of alcohol and diary can cause problems in zone 2. However, blemishes here can also be caused by food allergies and intolerances.
Zone 4, 6, 8 & 10: Kidneys
Blemishes in these zone are often caused by dehydration. Increased water consumption with a reduction in coffee and salt can help rehydrate your body and battle these blemishes.
Zone 7: Heart
Another area realated closely to your diet. Increasing fruit, vegetables and omega rich fish are essential for a healthy heart and a clear centre of your T zone. Be careful of dirty makeup brushes close to this area due to the dilated pores in zone 7.
Zone 5 & 9: Respiratory System
Smokers may find they are acne prone in these zones but they are not alone. It's thought that increased fresh air can help clear breakouts on your cheeks.
Zone 11 & 13: Hormones
This is exactly where my skin broke out and is a big problem for a lot of women. Stress and hormonal imbalance can cause breakouts below your mouth. Clean eating and exercise can help.
Zone 12: Stomach
Rich, heavy foods are the cause of these spots. A cleaner diet, increased fibre and exercise can help your bodies digestion and in turn help clear up this zone.
Zone 14: Illness
If you get spots on your neck it's likely that your body is fighting against bateria. Plenty of water, rest and a healthy diet help your body.

Were you aware that breakouts on your face had different meanings?
Do you suffer from reoccuring blemishes in the same area?

Maybelline Baby Lips Review: Pink Punch

Maybelline's Baby Lips have been around in America for well over a year and must have been the most talked about lip balm. Who knows why Maybelline decided to keep their 'must have' product restricted to the US but finally this Summer Baby Lips hit the UK's stores. I stopped myself from buying the whole set and opted for the pink one - Pink Punch.
This one smells incredible and reminds me of Fanta Fruit Twist, is SUPER pigmented and is really hydrating. I think this is going to be my lipstick alternative. My lips didn't feel like they were drying out and the colour stayed on for hours. It's quite cool that there's SPF 20 in the product as it saves you having to apply more than one product. For £2.99 it's a rather impressive product, and it's quite obvious why it was so talked about in the States.

Have you got any Baby Lips yet?

End of Summer Wishlist

It's been a week since I started my first teaching job and what better way to celebrate finally being paid for the thing I love doing than with a wish list?! With a career comes responsibilities, but lets forget about those whilst I dream about how I'll be spending my first pay cheque.

NOTD: Barry M Gelly Shine Watermelon

I wanted to start my new term at school with a bright summery nail polish and I think this might be my new absolute favourite. Naturally, pink is my favourite colour to paint my nails (next to a French Manicure) but I didn't own such a vibrant colour before. This one gets double thumbs up for how shiny it looks and how long it stays put. This one really does pass as looking like a gel polish.

What other Hi-Shine Gelly Nail Paints would you recommend?

Primark Haul - End of Summer

It's been a little while since I visited a Primark so I was very excited to get some new dresses and bits and pieces for starting the new term at work. Unfortunately my local(as in the one just over a hundred miles away) doesn't have the best stock. Their underwear department is huge and amazing but the rest is lacking. Thankfully I managed to get a few things but a lot of the nice items didn't have my size.

TRESemmé Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment Review

This year TRESemmé launched a new Platinum Strength range aimed at restoring strength, manageability and softness into hair. For someone like me who bleaches, blow-dries, straightens and curls their hair more than their hair should it was a must have. The range of products have a 'special technology' aimed at reforming hair lipids, smoothing and strengthening hair follicles.

Having had bleached hair for over three and a half years I've become a bit of a hair treatment addict and connoisseur. Instant results and long lasting results are the two key features that I look for and I'm happy to report TRESemmé has achieved both.
Repairing 2 years of damage is a difficult thing to measure. You can't magically repair slit ends and heat damage but I'm quite happy that the treatment manages to make my hair feel healthier - and not just for the 10 minutes I'm in the shower and half an hour afterwards. A lovely treatment to use!
The smell and formula are another two factors that get the thumbs up from me. The conditioner smells great in the shower and the scent lingers in my hair enough to gain me a few compliments. Unlike a lot of deep conditioners the formula is quite light, smooth and soft. It gives me the impression that my hair won't be weighed down, which is definitely true.

What's your favourite TRESemmé products?

NOTD: Peach Sherbet

Barry M's Peach Melba is one of my Summer favourites but today it was feeling a little bit plain and boring. I didn't have a lot of time to jazz it us so quickly added some silver glitter, using Andrea Fulerton's Stripe and Sparkle, making a slight gradient. Quick, easy and actually quite effective.

What's your favourite Barry M polish?
Silver or gold glitter, what's your favourite?

FOTN: Saturday Night Makeup

Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive
Ms Makeup Eyelash Curlers
Benefit Rockateur Blush
Amazing Shine Lashes 747-XS

Can anyone guess what my favourite brand is right now?!

Outfit of the Night:

Belt: Primark
Shoes: New Look
Bracelets: Pandora
Hair: Sleep-In Rollers/BaByliss Conical Wand

Typically for a night out I wear a dress but I'm starting to get bored of the same ones. I tend to wear skater style dresses as they suit me best so I thought I'd give a skater skirt a go for one of my last nights out before the end of my holidays. I thought a wet look skater skirt was a bit more dressy for a night out rather than a jersey one and in fact loads of people asked me if it was actually leather - which is not bad for a £20 skirt! The actual skirt was really comfortable, a good length and best of all the delivery was really quick and I had it in time for the weekend even though it was only ordered half way through the week.

Benefit Rockateur Blush Review

Benefit Bockateur Box Blush*
Available September 2013

Benefit's box blushes are probably their most iconic product, with gorgeous shades, girly packaging and long lasting products what is there not to love?
Their latest in the collection is the Rockateur blush - a rose gold cheek powder for a light 'sexy flush'. Some Benefit stores and counters had flash sales of Rockateur 6 weeks early and I was lucky enough to get my hands on it early through twitter.
The packaging is quite typical of Benefit (though there is less product in the pan!), with a handy mirror and a brush that might be useful for on the go. I'm not hugely keen on the 'Rock' word across the product but I suppose it's all part of the marketing, and that will disappear as the blush gets used up. Apart from that the first thing that I noticed was the scent of the product, I can't put my finger on it but it's a citrusy-sweet scent which smells great on my cheeks.
It's definitely a soft blush which makes it wearable for both day and night. I can sometimes find blush too harsh on my pink toned skin but Rockateur is much more complimentary, acting almost like a bronze blush. Benefit have managed to get the right amount of shimmer leaving a subtle sheen rather than a disco ball look. Definitely a healthy glow rather than painted on cheeks.

A blush to suit all skin tones and one that's managed to convert me from bronzer to blusher!

Did you get your hands on Rockateur during the flash sales?
What do you think about Benefit downsizing the products but not the prices?!

Superdrug Haul

When I found out that Maybelline's Baby Lips had finally landed in the UK I went straight to my local Superdrug to get one. Unfortunately it seemed to have been competing for the title of 'Worst Superdrug Ever' and had absolutely no Baby Lips lip balms and barely any other new products or just stock in general for that fact. Thankfully they had free delivery online so I decided to get a few things.
Superdrug had a fantastic deal on TRESemmé products, with some being more than half price. I repurchased the dry shampoo (raving review here) and decided to try out a couple of their deep conditioning treatments, to tide me over until I buy some more Lee Stafford hair growth treatment. The Keratin Smooth and Platinum Strength treatments were both under £3 each!
Bourjois' Bronzing Primer is still quite new and Superdrug had a few pounds off as an introductory price. I snapped it up in hope that it'll stop me wanting to buy Chanel's Tan de soleil with all my advantage points. Lastly, an impulse buy caused by bloggers - Rimmel's Scandaleyes waterproof eyeliner in Nude. It's won a few awards and been talked about loads so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

What's on your new product wish list?
Does an introductory offer lure you in?

Primark Picks: New In

It's been a little while since I've been in a Primark store and when I stumbled across the newest items online I started experiencing serious withdrawal symptoms.Unfortunately not many of these have reached the ASOS website yet but fingers crossed they catch up and have a bigger range.
My biggest favourites of the new stock are the bright and patterned cami tops. These are everywhere just now and thankfully Primark have joined in and have them on sale for only £4 - a lot cheaper than Top Shop that's for sure. I didn't notice very many 'going out' dresses but they've got lovely tea style dresses which are perfect for work. I like the heart patterned one best... or perhaps the red floral one. The floral shorts, colour (and faux leather) block top and bag were three other items that I desperately want in my wardrobe - even though I don't need another bag and the summer is almost over!

Have you been loving Primark lately?
What's your favourite way to wear the bright camis?

Scaredoo Hair Brush Review

Scaredoo is a brand new company and hair brush design that I stumbled across on twitter.  Their all in one professional hair brush was released in June and I was lucky enough to be one of the first to try it.

The first thing I noticed was the name and logo. I love the little faces in the logo and it totally reminds me of when my Mum would tackle my long hair after a bath. Straight away I can see this suiting both children and adults. I know I'd have liked the pink one (what am I saying, I still would!) but it's also available in purple, blue and yellow.
The thing I like most about the black one is that it's opaque so you can't see the other side of the bristles but I suppose the transparent ones are quite handy to know that there are 2 sides to this brush.

The Scaredoo is a bit different (to the obvious comparison the Tangle Teezer) as it's a 2 in 1 brush. The first side is the anti-tangle brush which you can use on wet or dry hair. I love these types of bristles, they work really well at tackling the knots that my hair seems to get in as soon as I enter the shower. This side of the Scaredoo has quite sturdy bristles of 3 different sizes in rows. These are great for working their way through knots and tangles.

Then flip it over and use the paddle brush side to finish off your look. I love the pink bristles on this side and they're designed for styling rather than detangling. Pretty nifty and so easy to flip and fix into place!

It's a really good size - it fits perfectly in my hand, doesn't take too long to brush all of my long thick hair but isn't too big to throw in my bag. It says it's got a non-slip texture but I'm not too sure, the edges are matte whilst the middle is shiny so it all depends on how you hold it because I still feel like there's a chance it might go flying out my hand in the shower.

Overall it's a good brush whether it's for styling or detangling - thumbs up Scaredoo!
