August/September Empties

In my last empties post I had 8 items but these past two months I haven't done as well. From the middle of September onwards I didn't finish a single products as everything I was using was close to new if not new, simply because there is no point taking an almost empty product 300 miles in a jam packed car.
There is, however, a very clear theme with the products I have been using and that's hair care. No particular reason - maybe I've been paying more attention to my hair than skin recently.

I've used this hairspray for years simply because it's the one my mum bought for herself so I made sure she'd pick me up one whenever I ran out too. I wouldn't say it was an amazing hairspray but it did the job and held my hair in place, even if it was a bit sticky.
Would I repurchase? Not anymore. I've been converted by the Schwarzkopf Silhouette Hairspray.
Batiste Blush Dry Shampoo £4.99 (400ml)
Batiste has proven to be my favourite dry shampoo for the days when I'm in a rush or my hair's just not cooperating on the oil front. It's also handy for the days running up to my next hairdresser appointment when my roots are very much on show.
Would I repurchase? Yes definitely. Blush is also one of my favourite scents by batiste - nice and girly.

If any Aussie Angels, or lucky winner's of their competition LAST August, are reading this they might just recognise that I've got one of the special Aussie-versary editions of their Take the Heat Leave-in Spray. I've really had this for a year. In my defence I never started using it straight away. Finally I managed to finish it all up.
Would I purchase? Perhaps. I'm using a different Heat Defence spray just now so won't be needing to repurchase for a wee while yet. It is a nice smelling product though.

I've been using this foundation for 2 years now as my night out foundation. Because of that I've had it for a very long time
Would I repurchase? I have and will until another foundation is invented that is as good as this one for a cheaper price.

I've done a review of this product (here). I said there I was sceptical of this product and the price tag put me off buying it even though it's got amazing 5 star reviews on Boots. Finally I took the plunge when they were on 3 for 2 and it wasn't long before I was addicted and my first pot ran dry.
Would I repurchase? Definitely. I'm hooked! Highly recommended if you want your hair to grow.

What have you been using up this month? Do you seem to use up the same type of products at once or do you have a steady flow of different products?

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick 005 Dreamer Review

Rimmel Lipsticks have been around forever but I'm always to busy falling for the latest gimmick like the Collection 2000 Cream Puffs, the Revlon Lip Butters or the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stains.
Finally I've made a lip product purchase that wasn't due to the blogger hype and was genuinely because the lipstick was a nice colour.
This Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick is more than just a nice colour. Dreamer is a gorgeous colour which I think is perfect as an everyday lip colour.
It's a soft and moisturising lip stick which doesn't dry out your lips making them in desperate need for layers of vaseline.
As for price they're pretty affordable. Boots has them for £4.99, but I've also found them for only £3.60 on Amazon, with postage.

Have you tried any Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks or are you still stocking up on the hyped up products? Are there any other brand of lipsticks that you think I should check out?

Smooth Pinup Swirl and Vintage Curls - #RoughVSmooth

I was lucky enough to be selected to take part in Immediate PR's (@ImmediatePR1) most recent blogger competition. I chose to fight the Smooth side in the #roughVsmooth competition. This meant I was given some OSiS+ Refresh N' Shine spray, a dry conditioner which adds instant shine, and left to transform my hair into any style I wanted.

Smooth is my standard hair style - whether it's down and straight or up in a high bun - I like my hair to look sleek and in place. Rather than sticking within my comfort zone I've gone for a Pinup Swirl and Vintage Curls which I think is sleek and shows off my shine.

From This:

To This:

What I used:

(From Left to Right)
Babyliss curling wand, Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Refresh N' Shine spray*, Hairspray, Heat Protectant, Tangle Teezer and some kirby grips.

How To Achieve This Sleek, Vintage Look:

The very first thing I did was spray through my 'second day' hair with the OSiS Refresh N' Shine dry conditioner spray. This helped refresh my hair but left it shiny, smooth and still suitable for styling.

Next I sectioned off a large square of hair at the middle of my hair. I measured a line from the arch of each of my eyebrows and stopped just before the crown of my head. This hair creates the pinup swirl.

After tying the rest of my hair out the way I began curling the hair with my Babyliss wand. I curled the hair in 4 sections before backcombing each section to add volume. I then brushed through the hair which smoothed out the texture and made the curls mould together. Then with the help of some hairspray I twisted my hair into place creating the swirl and pinned it in place.

Next I pulled the hair on my right back, tight to my head, and pinned it in place with a kirby grip at the back of my head. This keeps my hair smooth and helps all attention be drawn to the swirl.

Lastly I began curling the rest of my hair in preparation to achieve the sleek vintage curls. Once all my hair was curled in the same direction I sprayed more Refresh n' Shine spray onto my brush and began gently brushing through the curls. The Refresh n' Shine spray keeps the curls smooth and adds more shine. One last spray of hairspray to keep it in place and my SMOOTH hairstyle is complete!

What do you think? Have I achieved a smooth look worth winning the VIP Nicki Minaj tickets?
If you had to choose would you be Team Rough or Team Smooth? And what style would you create?

If you take part I'd love to see what look you created.

Soap and Glory No Clogs Allowed Deep Pore Detox Mask Review

Whilst browsing Boots online I was drawn to this Deep Pore Detox Mask as it claims to get rid of blackheads. My skin isn't too bad but around my nose and chin I do tend to suffer from some and I hate pore strips. This seemed like a good thing to try out and I was intrigued by the Hot Pore Clear Technology.

Inside the box their is a strange wee pink sponge which at first I thought was a freebie thrown in to help with washing the dishes as it doesn't seem like the kind of sponge to be using with a face mask. But I actually like the sponge as it makes removing the mask really easy as you don't have to splash water everywhere (think face wash adverts?!) so removal of the face mask is all part of the relaxing experience.

This face mask only takes 5 minutes which is fantastic. I tend to think I don't have 15minutes to sit with a face mask on so don't bother using them. But this is quite to put on and quite to take off. The cream is quite thick and a very light blue colour. It's easy to apply and see where you've missed. Once on you wet your fingers and rub it in and it changes to a blue colour and the heating sensation begins. Don't expect your whole face to change to a bright blue colour though. My photo below (face mask mug shot!) shows the slight change in colour and you can see the bright blue in some places. The heat technology is strange but not painful or uncomfortable at all - in fact I really liked it.

I've got quite sensitive skin but this didn't cause any problems and left my skin feeling lovely and soft. One application doesn't clear up all my blackheads but it sure did try.
I wouldn't recommend using this everyday nor the twice a week that the tube says. I've been using this once a week to once a fortnight for clearer, cleaner more radiant skin.

I really like this mask but it's a bit pricey compared to the little one use face masks you can get by Montagne Jeunesse - although the quality is better. This face mask is of the high quality expected from Soap and Glory. I'd recommend getting this during 3 for 2 offers in Boots but I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with blackheads or to those who fancy a pamper once in a while.
Have you used any other self heating masks? Or do you prefer the classic green mud style face masks?

Models Own Hedonist Nail Polish

I thought I'd say a proper farewell to Summer by sharing with you my favourite neon polish.

I think pictures help explain this favourite ten times more than words ever will. I think every brand of nail polish came out with at least one neon this summer and my favourite has to be Hedonist by Models Own. This polish was on my toenails since the day it arrived in the post. It’s a gorgeous neon coral colour which compliments my not so tanned skin tone.

This statement colour was amazing through the summer and will be sure to return to brighten up my winter outfits and be a statement with a LBD for nights out.

What was your favourite neon nail polish? What colours do you wear on your nails for Autumn/Winter?
