Boots No7 Haul and Foundation Match Made Service Experience

The Boots No7 £5 vouchers were always what I used to buy their nail polishes for £2 or stock up on a cleanser, toner or makeup wipes - whatever I was in need of at the time. I had mixed feelings when I was handed their new version of the £5 voucher the other week when I realised I could no longer get their varnishes for cheap. But it does mean I can save £8 rather than just 5.
I turned to twitter for advice on what I should spend my handful of vouchers on and was suggested a few of the items that I picked up.

I'd like to start off by thanking the lady at the No7 counter in Boots at the Gyle Centre in Edinburgh. She was lovely and extremely helpful. She both helped me to choose the correct foundation shade, more about that later, but also helped me save over £20.

First off I bought some makeup wipes and was advised to buy these in a separate transaction in order to benefit from their current 3 for 2 offer with my more expensive purchases.

Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes
£2 (£5 off Skincare Voucher)

My next transaction began with some of their quick dry tan, which was recommended on twitter. I was a bit confused as to wether this would be a cosmetic or skincare purchase but the lady scanned it and my voucher to let me know that it counted as either.

Perfectly Bronzed Tinted lotion
£7.95 (£5 off with Skincare Voucher)

Next I chose a foundation after being matched. I was looking forward to trying this as I've never had one of their foundations before.

Stay Perfect Foundation
£11 (£3 off with voucher)

Lastly I chose a Liquid Liner, upon twitter recommendation, yet again.

Stay Precise Liquid Liner
Free as part of 3 for 2 offer (£7.50)

As you probably all know No7 have introduced a new Foundation Match Made Service. The concept is that the machine identifies your exact shade of foundation. I was very sceptical but wanted to try it out and see. I , along with many others, wasn't sure how they would do it. It had been suggested that they take off all your makeup, which I definitely didn't want on a Saturday afternoon shopping. In actual fact she used their gentle cleanser to remove foundation along both sides of my jawline. She then used the machine which identified Calico as my perfect foundation, the lightest shade. The MUA remarked that Calico was the shade she thought would match so it does suggest they would recognise if the machine 'malfunction' per se. She then asked what I wanted from my foundation then recommended the perfect one and tried it on my skin- patching up my 'bald patches'. I was shown how it looked in the mirror before skipping off with my new bottle to the till.

Have you used their Match Made Service? What's your favourite thing to spend the vouchers on?

    1. My experience with it was good but I can't see it working for everyone. There's always someone whose skin can't be matched to the range they have. Definitely worth trying out though x

  2. I really want to go and try the foundation matching machine but I have far too many foundations for my liking I just can't justify going there getting matched and then wanting one. You got some great bits with your vouchers though! xx

    1. It's a total gimmick eh? I really didn't need the foundation but after getting "properly matched" and having some money off I couldn't resist! xx

  3. I really really want to go and get matched, but I'm doing a £10 budget challenge at the moment and will HAVE to wait just in case I can't resist!
