Benefit Boi-ing Concealer Review

I purchased this Boi-ing concealer in shade 01 after trying it in the Confessions of a Concealaholic set. I'm not sure I'd have spent £16.50 on a concealer before but this is worth, almost, every penny. (I say almost because I'd have preferred to keep that 50p and made it £16 ;) )

"Say good-bye to circles and shadows around your eyes with Boi-ing. Our industrial strength concealer camouflages those pesky problems without creasing, smudging or wearing off."

Boi-ing is available in 5 different shades which makes it quite easy to find one to suit any skin-tone. Benefit increased the number of shades up from 3. Shades 01 and 02 stayed the same whilst altering shade 03 and extending. I chose shade 01 after trying shades 01 and 02 in my concealer set but if you want to choose the perfect one for your I suggest either swatching the concealers at a Benefit counter or getting help from the Benefit MUAs.

I use this concealer mainly for my under-eye circles but it does a great job covering even the red-est of blemishes. This concealer gives amazing coverage and has a nice texture for being a cream concealer as it's not too thick or cakey.
I apply Boi-ing with my fingers, using the heat of my fingers to soften and blend.

I recommend this to any one who worries about dark circles under their eyes, to anyone looking for a thick concealer and to anyone who struggles to cover up blemishes. This concealer really is industrial strength!

Have you tried Boi-ing, what did you think? What's your favourite high-end and 'drug store' concealers?

Real Techniques - Core Collection Review and Uses

Real Techniques Core Collection

The Core Collection by Real Techniques is a much talked about set of four face brushes. Each brush a completely different size, but all extremely soft, these brushes are perfect for applying foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer and highlighter. At just over £5 a brush they're great value for money and well worth buying.

Detailer Brush
Probably not the best brush to start off with as I use this the least because it really is tiny. I'm always in a bit of a rush to do my makeup so prefer big brushes but this one is great if you've got a bit more time and want to apply and blend in concealer.

Pointed Foundation Brush
Although entitled a foundation brush I prefer it for concealer. The size of the brush makes it perfect for under the eyes and around the nose as well as across any blemishes. It's a bit small and therefore slow for everyday foundation but with time this brush could give an absolutely flawless finish when used with foundation.

 Buffing Brush
The reason I bought the set and the reason I love this set. This brush is amazing for applying liquid foundation It buffs (duh!) it in perfectly. It's super soft and actually quite easy to clean (unlike the ELF Powder brush!!) I prefer this brush slightly more than the stippling brush as it's bigger but the two work brilliantly together.

 Contour Brush
As suggested this brush is the perfect size for contouring. The bristles pick up the right amount of bronzer to create a shadow under the cheekbone. I also use this brush for my highlight. With this I lightly dust some MAC's Soft and Gentle down my nose and along the top of my cheeks to add a nice glow.

The set comes together with a cute wee brush holder, which actually has slots to keep some other brushes. The holder also unfolds to act as a travel brush 'roll' which is handy.

Have you got the Core Collection? Which is your most used in the set?

Essensity Clarifying Shampoo Review

Essensity Clarifying Shampoo

Having always had long, thick hair I've never been one for washing my hair everyday. Not only does it take too long to wash, dry and style but it's also, as everyone says, not good for your hair. This has never been too much of a problem until recently.
I've been battling with greasy hair.

I figured the cause may be a build up of product as I use both intensive conditioners and moisturising shampoos, along with heat protectant, Morroccanoil and leave in conditioners.

I got the chance to try out this Schwarzkopf Professional shampoo* from who specialise in hair extensions, hair care and beauty products at amazing prices reduced from the market price- available to everyone rather than just those in the industry. So although £8.64 may seem expensive for a shampoo it's a high quality product with a saving of over £1.50 (every penny helps!)

The first thing I noticed was that it didn't lather. This instantly made me think 'Oh no it's not working, it won't be making my hair clean' but in actual fact it was doing what it was meant to be doing! Shampoos are not necessarily meant to lather to clean, the lather doesn't actually affect the cleansing process.
I was also impressed by the smell of the shampoo. Another preconception perhaps, but I thought because it's going to be working hard at cleansing it might not smell that nice. Also it's free from artificial fragrances as well as has no silicones, paraffin, mineral oils and parabens so I wasn't expecting this super natural shampoo to smell so fresh.

As for the results? I was impressed, my second day hair was much less oily and generally more wearable. I didn't even need to reach for my Batiste half way through the day. So, I'd highly recommend this clarifying shampoo if you use a lot of products as the build up might be the cause of greasy hair.

After trying this shampoo I did a quite search about clarifying shampoos and found out that clarifying shampoos are good for blonde hair and should be used more often. I've honestly never heard this before and thought the website had got their purple and clarifying shampoos in a muddle. But actually... dyed highlighted hair becomes porous and so the yellowish tone is caused by the environment entering these pores (hairspray, minerals from shower water, shampoo, conditioner, perspiration, etc.). So a clarifying shampoo used weekly can help get rid of the horrible yellowy brassy tones.

Have you tried any clarifying shampoos?
Or have you taken advantage of's savings on all things haircare and beauty?

Benefit Sexy Little Stowaways Gift Set

One of the best releases by Boots this "festive" season, so much so that I had to buy it months before, is without a doubt the Benefit Sexy Little Stowaways set.
Each of the 10 items is perfect size for travelling or on the go.

The four little bottles are the perfect size for travelling or in a handbag, so can act as a back up for a big product but are also a great size for trying out a product before committing to splashing out on the full size. 2.5ml of product goes a long way!
Stay Don't Stray is a primer for eyeshadows and concealers.
Ooh La Lift is an eye brightener.
Cha Cha Tint is a coral cheek and lip stain.
Sun Beam is a bronze highlighter.

The next two products are both for the eyes. It's Potent! is an eye cream for fading dark circles. Bad Gal Lash is probably one of the most well known Benefit products. This travel size version of their mascara lasts ages and I'm actually a big fan of it. (Review here)

The other four products are face products and more of Benefits best sellers.
Porefessional is raved about, but known for being a bit pricey so I'm looking forward to having another small tube of the pore minimising balm. The exact same size product is available to buy for £10!!
That Gal is another primer style product which is brightening. Again this mini is available on the Benefit website for £10.
I have to admit the reason I was most excited for this set was the mini sized Hoola Bronzer and Bella Bamba blush. These are both raved about but cost £23.50 for the full size. I'm really looking forward to trying these out without being gutted if they don't suit my skin tone. The 3g of product is almost half of what's included in the full size box (8g)

Which of these 10 items are your favourite?

Birthday Wishlist

So it is exactly a month until my 21st birthday so I thought it was totally acceptable to put up my birthday wishlist. My Mum always asks what I want for my birthday so I've got into a habit of keeping a note of things that have caught my eye in the months leading up to my birthday. Most of them are self explanatory apart from the picture in the middle.

I'm not a totally spoiled brat and want a whole holiday resort for my birthday... just a holiday to Egypt! For my boyfriends 21st last year I took him to Disneyland Paris as we're both big kids. We've both known since then that another holiday was on the cards to celebrate my birthday but instead of an active holiday we're opting for one where we can lie back, enjoy the sun and do NOTHING. This is going to be an amazing way to spend that horrible time between the festive period (Christmas and New Year) and starting my crazy, hectic placement and dissertation. So that's going to be my big present this year, fingers crossed everything goes to plan.
As for the rest of the things, they're all probably things I've seen on blogs before. I'll start at the top left and work my way clockwise.
Soap and Glory Flake Away - I need an exfoliator and I've heard good things about Soap and Glory ones.
A rose gold watch - I've already got a fancy dancey watch so just a nice, inexpensive one, is on my list. This one is from New Look and is about £20!
Soap and Glory Set - I'm well and truely on the Soap and Glory bandwagon and the great thing about my birthday being close to Christmas is all the Christmas gifts are in Boots already.
Sleeprollers Big and Bouncy Set - My mum has known about this for about 3 weeks already so hopefully she's already got it hidden in the house somewhere ;)
Models Own Wonderland Collection - I don't think I need to explain, the picture does that for me.
Snow Fairy Shower Gel - This Lush classic is limited edition to Christmas time so my birthday is a nice time to stock up on this gorgeous scent!
Pandora Bracelet - I'm very much a bracelet girl and I'd LOVE one of these as a keepsake for my 21st birthday along with the key charm.

What do you think of my list?
When it comes to presents do you like surprises or would you prefer to let people know what you want?

Paco Rabanne Lady Million Perfume Review

Lady Million is the female version of the Paco Rabanne 1 Million aftershave. I bought that for my boyfriend when it first came out and knew when this came out that I had to have it if it was anything as gorgeous.

This perfume is certainly a head turner and was Highly Recommended in the Debenhams 2012 Beauty Club Awards.

This rich, glamorous scent is both sweet and fruity. I find it very long lasting is sure to receive compliments.
My mum questioned what perfume I was wearing so often that I bought her her own bottle for her birthday!

On one last note, I love the bottle, the design is gorgeous and really catches the eye but I hate that it doesn't stand upright! It seems to lie on it's side and it just makes me think it's unstable and might roll off my dresser.

Are you a fan of Paco Rabanne?

Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Tint and Balm Review

The release of Rimmel's 1000 kisses tint and balm was overshadowed by the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. I'm not sure whether that was either because of it's likeness to the Clinique Chubby Sticks or whether it was down to the #JBK PR 'stunt'. Whatever the reason I feel Rimmel needs some help with their advertisement but in no way with the product.
I've tried both lip products and Rimmel was the clear winner for me. I'm not sure if I chose the wrong shade with the Revlon balm but I find Rimmel's Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Tint to be much nicer to wear and longer lasting.

Obviously the big difference in products is Rimmel's lip tint has a felt pen style applicator which applies a wet lip stain. I love applying with this style applicator as it makes my lips feel all tingy. The wet stain also helps for application on slightly dry lips as the liquid doesn't attach to any dry bits the same way as a tinted balm does. Obviously the stain doesn't stay wet on your lips so once it sinks in it can make your lips feel a bit dry but that's where the balm comes in.

On the opposite end there is a clear balm. This thing is amazing. A quick swipe over your lips and they're left looking shiny and feeling hydrated.

The staying power of this product is impressive. As it's a tint you expect the colour to stay put for a long time but that isn't always the case. Rimmel has done a good job with this one. Above is my lips straight after the product was applied and the picture below is two hours later AND after brushing my teeth. The tint has stayed well making this a fantastic product for a night out as it doesn't need to be applied in between each drink like a lip stick.

Unfortunately my one problem with this product is that a mirror is almost essential. As the tint has such a vibrant colour you can't risk applying it without seeing where it's going or else you could end up looking like the Joker with colour all over your face.
I guess because the colour lasts quite a long time it doesn't matter too much if you nip to the toilet every few hours to reapply.

I've got the Stay Very Berry shade which is a gorgeous bright, vibrant pink and smells lovely. This is perfect for a night out but isn't too in your face to be worn everyday making this a rather versatile product.

I would recommend this to anyone who is disappointed with the staying power of the Revlon balm stains or to anyone who likes a long staying lip colour with a bit of a shine. For £6.99 you can't really go wrong!

Have you tried 1000 kisses? Do you prefer a lip tint or lipstick?
